Communication means different things to different persons. These are some of the meanings of communication given by different people.

Communication is something we use for a process, e.g. to get something done, to influence others, to express feelings and ideas.

Communication means dialogue between two or more people.

Communication draws on nonverbal means, either conscious or unconscious, for expressions of attitudes and emotions which will alter relations for better pt worse

Communication is the exchange of words or actions between two or more people t express ideas and needs.

Communication is expressing and receiving thoughts, concepts, ideas and information in a medium which is clear in its expression, which is understood by the receiver and which allows for feedback to the sender

We see here a great difference in defining this most fundamental of human activities. The above example begin by giving its importance and end with a scientific analysis.

We believe that an understanding of the communication process explains effective communication.
