Learning Unit 2 : Formal Situation of Negotiation
Unannounced and Casual meeting: usually, a manager or our senior or own if your colleague happens to just pass by your room and drops in and asks if he could have just a minute with you. And at once puts to you his proposal for helping him out by sparing three persons from your section for two months, immediately. This is an informal negotiation.
- It is unannounced
- It involves just two persons
- It appears to you casual. But you never know that the other persons might have planned to approach you for help in this manner
- It gives you no time to prepare for discussion
- Its friendly approach is meant to act as an influence on your final decision making
- Informal negotiation may not be easy to handle. Because it does not allow time to study the strength or weakness of the other side.
